Shelter Plus Care Info
Quick Facts About Program
Eligibility & Admission
Only those homeless individuals that are current consumers of ABHS are eligible. The homeless individual must be referred by his/her community service worker or clinician in order to access the program. Once the referral is made, the homeless individual is placed on a planning list and when the next unit is available; RSC will contact the referring worker and schedule an interview. If the individual passes interview, individual will meet to sign lease and other documents and move in at another schedule date. A deposit of $100 is due upon lease signing. If individual has no income, deposit will be waived.
With all the credentials listed, the Shelter
Plus Care Program is not intended for those consumers who
need immediate placement due to disruptive behavior and require 24/7 care.
For those individuals who need more intensive care with the potential of
living independently, the Oconee Supportive Housing is available.
Oconee Supportive Living Housing
Program (formerly the Crawford House)
The Oconee Supportive Housing provides a more intensive and structured environment which is similar to the Shelter Plus Care Program. The Oconee Supportive Housing Program is an option that is more feasible to that of a more restrictive and costly placement such as inpatient hospitalization or nursing homes. The residents would be clients of ABHS who are in need of supervision for any variety of reasons. It is open to males 18 years old and older and does not discriminate based on race, religion, sexual orientation, or HIV status. Although it is located in Oconee County, the residence serves the entire region.
The mission of the Oconee Supportive Housing Program is to assist those homeless persons who have mental disabilities with the various life skills necessary to live in a more independent setting. In this structured home environment, residents learn how to perform the tasks and access the resources needed.
