Shelter Plus Care Program
Advantage Behavioral Health Systems, in association
with the Development (HUD), is offering a new service for those individuals
who are classified as both "homeless" and "disabled". HUD's definition
of homeless as January 2007 is those individuals that are living on the
streets or in shelters. The Shelter Plus Care Program is designed
to link rental assistance to supportive services for hard to serve homeless
persons with disabilities. HUD has provided a grant to ABHS to be
used for rental assistance for permanent housing for homeless persons with
disabilities. This service will enable those ABHS individuals who
meet the criteria and can function in an independent environment to live
in apartments and mobile homes at a rate based on their income. The Shelter
Plus Care Program is currently serving Clarke, Oconee, and Walton counties.
